I grew up in St. Paul, MN and attended Xavier University (Cincinnati, OH) to earn my bachelor’s degree in Biology. A summer internship in Lima with Peru’s National Center for Public Health spurred my interest in arboviruses. In 2010, I joined the Virology Program at Harvard. My thesis work in the lab is focused on innate immune detection of cytosolic RNA. I also collaborate with the labs of Jon Kagan (Boston Children’s Hospital) and Sangeeta Bhatia (MIT Koch Inst) to study Dengue virus. My enthusiasm for science outreach fuels my dedication to the student group ‘Science in the News’. In my free time, I play ultimate frisbee on a local club team.
